Capital Ring Charity walk for Kevin Chessum (CR4KC)

By LGIM

We’re a pretty enthusiastic team when it comes to taking on challenges for charity. But this time the challenge is even more personal! On 27 June, we’ll be taking on the London Capital Ring for a cause that’s affected a member of our team.

Last year we raised another £6.4k for Children with Cancer by channelling our inner child. This time in our Capital Ring 4 Kevin Chessum (#CR4KC) event we’re stepping it up a notch in support of our colleague Kevin Chessum who suffered from a stroke towards the end of 2017.

Starting and finishing at our offices at 1 Coleman Street (1CS) on 27 - 28 June 2018, we plan to run/walk/crawl the London Capital Ring. Between us, we'll be covering 100 miles in 36 hours to raise £10,000 for the Stroke Association and the Friends of Queen Mary's Hospital. Both were instrumental in supporting our team mate Kevin Chessum when he suffered from a stroke last year. This is our small way of saying "thank you".

Stepping it up a notch in support of our team mate Kevin Chessum

Kevin has always been a lively and active colleague, friend, father and partner who enjoyed life - whether it was acting, running after a rounders ball or joining in for a couple of beers he would be there!

As with many stroke victims, the road to recovery for Kevin has been a slow one. But Kevin has always been a fighter and he's made a lot of progress in the last few months.

He has spent the majority of his rehabilitation time in Queen Mary's Hospital regaining his mobility. He is now able to move with the aid of a stick and is back home for the remainder of his recovery. Kevin is still very much in our minds and we were delighted he visited the office recently (a big step for him and one that gives us hope for the future)!

To show our appreciation for the support Kevin has received with his rehabilitation, the team wanted to do their bit to raise money to help other stroke survivors.

We would love your support in our efforts to reach out £10,000 target. As we're fundraising for both Friends of Queen Mary's Hospital and Stroke UK, we have separate pages set up so that you can donate to your preferred charity.

We'll be updating our fundraising progress using the widget above (and on our homepage). You can also follow our update on LinkedIN and Twitter using the hashtag #CR4KC in the run up to the big event. It would really help us if you're able to help us by liking, sharing and re-tweeting these posts to raise as much awareness and money for our charities.
